What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses focused attention, relaxation and suggestions to work towards a goal agreed together. In individual sessions with Dr. Cristina Toader, we explore your chosen theme at your pace, online or in person in Băneasa, Bucharest. You can speak, refuse a suggestion or ask for a pause throughout the session.

Reasons to explore hypnosis

Find a situation that feels familiar. These are possible themes and goals; our first conversation helps us decide what fits your needs and what change you want to work towards.

Stress, emotions and sleep

Restlessness, overload, repetitive thoughts, difficulty relaxing or settling to sleep.

We can explore everyday tension, irritability, self-criticism, the need for control and evening worries. We choose an observable goal: settling more easily, responding more calmly or building a sleep routine. Persistent insomnia and anxiety disorders also require specialist assessment.

Fears and self-confidence

Fear of judgement, rejection or failure; shyness, comparison and perfectionism.

Speaking up, social connection, trusting your choices and trying something new can become session themes. Intense fears or phobias, including flying, needles, enclosed spaces or dental treatment, may require specialist assessment first.

Romance, relationships and family

Boundaries, communication, fear of closeness, jealousy, separation and relationship patterns.

We explore asking for and receiving support, approval-seeking, guilt around saying no, trust and recurring roles in relationships. Separation and changing family roles can also be personal themes. The work concerns your own responses and choices; it cannot change someone else’s wishes.

Business and career

Public speaking, interviews, negotiation, visibility, decisions and delayed projects.

Mental preparation for a presentation, difficult conversation, camera appearance or new role. We can explore fear of mistakes, feeling unprepared, difficulty delegating and work-life balance, with practical steps to try afterwards.

Money and personal value

Setting a price, asking for payment, scarcity worries and avoiding money conversations.

The focus is your emotional relationship with money: discomfort asking, guilt receiving, linking your worth to income and reactions that influence decisions. Hypnosis is not financial advice and does not guarantee income or debt repayment.

Habits and self-regulation

Smoking, nail biting, excessive phone use, automatic responses and consistency.

We identify habit triggers, the underlying need and a response you want to practise. Evidence for hypnosis in smoking cessation is inconclusive; it can be discussed alongside established methods. Alcohol, drug and gambling addictions require specialist care.

Eating and body image

Emotional eating, food impulses, body image and maintaining healthy habits.

We can explore food-related emotions, body criticism and motivation for self-care, movement and routines. No amount of weight loss is promised. Eating disorders and metabolic conditions require appropriate specialist care.

Focus, learning and performance

Exam nerves, reading, studying, creativity, sport performance and perseverance.

We work with mental rehearsal, task-focused attention, evaluation anxiety and consistency. You might choose regular reading, practising a presentation or following your training plan. These are personal goals, not treatments for ADHD, dyslexia or other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Health and preparation for procedures

Treatment fears, diagnosis-related emotions, recovery and adapting to change.

Relaxation and mental preparation before appointments or procedures, emotional support during recovery and following care recommendations. Medical applications, including pain and certain symptoms, are explained separately below and require assessment and specific expertise.

Life transitions and personal meaning

Loss, bereavement, changing roles, personal direction, self-understanding and spiritual exploration.

Space for your feelings during change and your relationship with yourself. If you choose spiritual exploration, regression and the journey towards light are symbolic experiences, not ways of verifying the past or reliably recovering memories. Intense or prolonged distress may require psychological support.

Your situation is not listed exactly? Describe it in the introductory conversation. Medical applications of hypnosis are explained separately below.

“I understood that I can ask for help, receive support and do not have to immediately return what I receive.”

What happens during a hypnosis session

1. ClarifyYou describe your concern, we discuss relevant history, agree on a goal and review the process. Your consent guides our work.

2. ExploreYou settle comfortably, usually with eyes closed. You remain aware: you can hear, speak and ask for a pause. I adapt the guidance to your responses.

3. IntegrateWe return gradually, discuss your experience and choose what you would like to practise in everyday life.

How we follow your progress

We start with something observable: emotional intensity, ease of speaking in a particular situation, the frequency of a habit or the time needed to relax. We return to that reference point and notice what has changed. Some people notice a difference after one meeting; others need time, practice or a different kind of support. There is no universal number of sessions or identical result for everyone.

Where clinical hypnosis is used

Hypnosis has applications in medicine, dentistry and psychology. The following are documented uses, not a promise that any condition can be resolved in a Divine session. Symptoms and diagnoses require appropriate assessment, protocols and clinical expertise.

Pain and medical procedures

Clinical hypnosis has evidence for reducing pain in certain settings and procedure-related discomfort. Research includes chronic pain, headaches, fibromyalgia and pain associated with dental care, burns or cancer care. Effects vary by condition and protocol; treatment and anaesthesia remain the medical team’s responsibility.

Irritable bowel syndrome and digestive symptoms

Gut-directed hypnotherapy can help some people with irritable bowel syndrome through a specific protocol. This does not mean that a general session treats any abdominal pain or cures inflammatory bowel disease.

Hot flashes and menopause

Clinical hypnosis protocols have evidence for reducing hot flashes. This is not a method of hormone regulation; suitability should be discussed with an appropriate clinician.

Anxiety, phobias and sleep difficulties

Hypnosis may be integrated into certain interventions for anxiety and fears. Evidence for persistent insomnia is more limited. Diagnosed disorders, panic attacks, depression, trauma/PTSD and obsessive-compulsive symptoms require specialist assessment and are not presented as guaranteed hypnosis outcomes.

Dentistry, gag reflex and jaw tension

Hypnosis is used in dentistry for anxiety and comfort. Evidence for gag reflex, bruxism or clenching is more limited; dental assessment and management remain essential.

Pregnancy, childbirth and cancer care

Research includes childbirth preparation, pain, anxiety and some treatment-related symptoms, including nausea in cancer care. Results depend on context; use is complementary and coordinated with the medical team. Hypnosis does not treat cancer or guarantee pain-free childbirth.

Other applications: habits, skin, sexuality and paediatrics

Reported applications include itching and repetitive scratching, sexual performance anxiety, bed-wetting, functional abdominal pain and needle-related fear in children. Evidence is not equally strong for all of them. Assessment and an appropriately trained clinician are required; these are not automatically services offered at Divine.

Frequently asked questions about hypnotherapy

Will I lose control?

No. You can speak, refuse a suggestion and ask to stop. Closing your eyes and directing attention inward does not mean losing control.

How can regression exploration help me?

During regression, images, emotions, perceptions or an intuitive sense of “knowing” may arise. These experiences can be explored as personally meaningful scenarios that may help you see what you are going through from another perspective and better understand your emotions and patterns. You do not need to believe in past lives: the focus is on what the experience means to you and what you can integrate into the present, without assuming that the scenes depict events that actually happened.

Is it suitable for every concern?

Share relevant diagnoses and treatments before booking. For a history of psychosis, schizophrenia or epilepsy, consult your treating doctor first.

Online or in person?

Online sessions require a quiet space, a stable connection and uninterrupted time. In-person appointments are available at MIRO Offices, Șoseaua București–Ploiești 89A, Bucharest. We confirm access details when booking.
